Eric D. Sharp is currently a freelance composer, conductor and performer. His interest presented itself at the age of four when he would compose short pieces for the piano. Continuing his studies on the piano and composition led him to study and receive a Bachelors and Masters degree in composition and conducting at California State University in Long Beach. His compositions have been performed throughout California, Oregon and Texas. He has written pieces for a variety of ensembles including music for choir, concert band, orchestra, chamber ensemble, percussion ensemble, solo voice and electronic media.
As a conductor, he has conducted orchestras, concert bands, choirs, swing bands, steel drum bands and percussion ensembles. He is currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Galveston College Choir and the Island Steel Drum Band. He was the Musical Director and Conductor of The Sharp Sounds Big Band. He was also the Musical Director and Conductor of the Long Beach Shoreline Concert Band and the Musical Director and Conductor of the Long Beach Blue Pacific Swing Band. Concerts have included the Miss Long Beach Beauty Pageant, the Tiller Days Carnival in Tustin and on the Sea Launch ship.
